Announcing a Conference for... Amateur Astronomers, Students, and Teachers
IMAGING THE SKY '95 Where are we now? Where are we going?
Dates: Oct 13 and 14, 1995 Place: Western Oregon State College, Monmouth, Oregon Topic: What Will Astronomical Imaging Be Like in 2000
Never before have amateur astronomers had so many opportunities in recreational and scientific imaging. This meeting will explore the state of the art in visual, photographic, and CCD imaging with a special emphasis on what amateur astronomy may be like in the year 2000.
This is the perfect opportunity to explore what is happening in imaging today and what it has to offer amateur astronomers, students, and teachers. The conference will consist of invited talks and shorter contributions on the topics listed below, plus "hands-on" time with cameras and computers.
* The Limits of Human Vision * Fantastic Films: Today's State-of-the-Art Astrophotography * What Can CCDs Really Do? * Scanning the Skies with the Eye, Emulsions, and the CCD Camera * Making Great Astronomical Images in Color * Scientific Imaging for the Amateur Astronomer * CCD Photometry and Spectroscopy * Exploring the Planets with Digital Imagery * Teaching Astronomy in an Age of Electronic Imaging
What Will We Be Doing in 2000?
We need to recognize that we are at the beginning of a new era in which amateur astronomers have unprecedented ability to participate in astronomy. The key question to be addressed at the meeting is within the limits of amateurism, what can amateur astronomers really do?
