I have a nice electrical heater in the room so I can keep an even temperature between 65 and 70 degrees F
I also built a stand 36 Inches high that I can walk around for polishing. I really should have done this right away, but who knew?
Previously I was using a bench, and turning the mirror and tool as I went. It's like what Dobson uses in his video. DON"T USE IT. It stinks. (Well mine did anyway. It was in a shower stall, and whenever someone ran water upstairs, I got this great hydrogen sulfide belch out of the drain)
So, I polished for about an hour today, and I think it went better than ever.
I'm almost out of Cerium Oxide now, and I won't get any more until Thurs. so I'm not sure what will happen tomorrow afternoon. (Anyone in Minnesota near the twin cities have any C. O. ?)
I did visit E&W optical, but he uses "Special" C. O. and wouldn't sell any to me. Nice guy huh?
It was cool seeing an 8 Inch mirror polishing away there. I could have spit some 80 grit onto the pitch lap from the front counter.
I used to live about 600 feet from E&W, and washed my socks about two doors from them. (Oh, sorry off the subject again)
I'll probably go visit the local bearing manufacturers and look for some whopper bearings. I'd like about 3 Inch diameter for the upper end of the forks.
Anyone have a good source for worm gears? Something under $200.00.
That's it for tonight. Someday, I'll be testing for a parabola. (Yeah right)
