Tile tools

When we make tile tools here we use the tiles that come in sheets, with a
fiber scrim on the back. Oil the mirror face with a thin coat of heavy
oil (we use machine tool way lube) as a release agent. Make a dam of
masking tape around the mirror and lay the sheet of tiles on it. BTW the
tiles have already been trimmed to fit. Pour on the Hydrocal plaster and
bump the thing a few times to dislodge the bubbles from between the
tiles. Don't overdo the bumping or the plaster will flow under the
tiles. If you use a sticky grease that shouldn't be as much of a
problem. When the plaster has hardened wire brush the plaster from
between the tiles to open up the channels. I put on two coats of shellac to
seal it after it has set for a couple days. That's my 2+ cents.
