Ebony star is not "formica." Formica is a brand name. Ebony star is Wilsonart, although I probably mispelled it. Locally here FRP or "glassboard" can be purchased Home Depot off the shelf for only $15 for a 4'x8' panel. A similar panel of beige tweed formica cost me about $60 to special order through the same Home Depot store a couple of years ago. They didn't carry Wilsonart at the time. I don't know about now.
I would imagine a good part of the price is shipping.
