Another couple of hours, and the edge is getting better, but not fully polished yet.

I got the camera and lens clean, and I have standardised the images, and downloaded nine images to archimedes.lance.colostate.edu.

I have placed nine files in /incoming on archimedes.lance.colostate.edu They will be moved to /pub/astro sometime.

1_1.gif is a small image of my mirror. This image was taken with an Electrim EDC-1000 CCD camera and a short lens. This image is a single 16 millisecond frame

1_50.gif This image is an average of 50 16 millisecond frames.

2_20.gif This image is an average of 20 frames. after a further 1 hour polishing.

2_254.gif This image is an average of 254 frames.

3_80.gif is after a further 1 hour of polishing with a longer stroke This image was taken using a lens forcibly extracted from an old GAF 8mm movie camera I got for $5.00 at the local junk shop.

This lens is a zoom lens, so I can change the image scale.

This image is almost 165 x 192 (And I had xv double it)

The lens had two prism devices in the light path. One is to extract a beam that hits a photo-diode to do automatic exposure control. The second one extracts another beam that is used for the through-the-lens viewing feature.

When this image was taken, I had only discovered, and removed one of the two prism devices. The remaining device caused the diagonal line, and the circular rings.

The CCD array window also had gunk on it that caused a few small blotches.

I have since removed the second prism, and cleaned everything and I am getting much better images.

3_cnt.gif Is with the knife edge at the center of curvature

4_254.gif After anothe hour of polishing. CCD still not clean

5_254.gif Another hour... Finally got the CCD and lens clean The mirror is looking much smoother now.

5_cou.gif A Couder mask. Knife is at the 2nd zone from the center.
