Hi again, I almost forgot:

* Use of a product like Armor-all to treat the plastic laminate on a teflon pad system does seem to lower the friction/stiction.

* I added a layer of rubber inner tube under my teflon pads (which ride on Ebony Star). It seems (I think) to lower a little of the rough sound you get as the little Ebony Star bumps ride over the teflon pads and I think it may help the stiction issue in that the pad can "give" a little under torque and release sooner.

* One other thing to think about is the shape of the pad. I used circular pads (round is nice) with beveled edges so that I wouldn't get a abrupt transition as the various bumps on the laminate made and broke contact with the pad. Other shapes maybe better or the same. Any thoughts on this last bastion (sp?) of tweakiness?

* Some people have mentioned some kind of material in lieu of laminate called Structoglass or something like that which is a fiberglass material with many bumps, recommended by them for large, heavy scopes.

Overandout,

Steve
