A material I've used for a similar application is I think called gaylock way bearing. It's a glass filled Teflon material that comes in different thickness and is used for repairing machine tool ways. One side is treated so that it can be bonded with epoxy glue. A large industrial hardware store may be able to get it. It works well bonded to metal and can even be scraped much as cast iron. The cold flow problem of pure Teflon is eliminated also.
