And another candidate as a substitute for Teflon is polystyrene sheet, available at hobby stores. I have used this for small (6") dob altitude bearing pads, bearing against PVC sewer pipe rings, and it is quite acceptable. I don't knwo how it works for larger systems, but it is quite inexpensive.
