Out of curiosity, what happens if you overvoltage a stepper motor by, say 100%
without limiting the current? I called an OEM about their motors and the
engineer I spoke to said that the voltage ratings were minimums to develop the
rated torque. The motor I got (used, not new!) was only about $8 or so, so
it's no big deal if I toast it but I'd rather not. I've been running it at a
100% overvoltage for probably 50+ hours now...
