I have in hand a couple of stepper motors that are 1.8 deg/step and have 27 oz/in running torque at low speed dropping off to 16 oz/in at 800 steps per second. I would like to use them for driving a dobsonian mount for a six inch scope ? Any advice on whether these motors would be suitable ? Any general information on determing the amount of torque needed to drive a scope ? Down the road I would like to build an equatorial mount and drive.
