Re: [ATM] Odd question...
I am firmly in the camp of photons being waves. We are gradually
getting closer to where we can generate light photons by pure
structures and some power. The are indeed electromagnetic waves
and the only problem with generating them is that their frequency
is so high that it is rather difficult to build the structures to
emit generate and emit them. I'll note that we already have
traveling wave tubes that generate light so the principles are
alread6y there.
The sun generates a lot of heat as well as light and light does
get adsorbed by glass as well as cements tht often hold pieces of
glass together in eyepieces. As such, you can expect that there
will be heating all across the board for a telescope that is
magnifying the image of the sun and that is what happend to the
guy. There are warnings all over the place about looking at the
sun yet people still use improper techniques to view the sun.
The guy learned his lesson as to why there are so many warnings
about looking at the sun!
