I used 5micron only because I had it (and it's the finest "abrasive" I use)
and that is finer than the Cerium oxide I use anyway (9micron). Final
smoothing is done with black rough, messy but the finish, oh the finish....

Could also try 3 micron or even 1 micron AlOx? Sounds like asking for
scratches but I haven't tried them.
