just an idea....how padding your mirror support with 'appropriate' 
full-thickness pitch blocks at 'appropriate' spacing...let the mirror sit 
in its cradle for a while and it will seat just like the tool....you 
should not have to worry about line of contact through COG.....(only about 
the settling issue during testing :-)..)
