[ATM] Astigmatizm, and pitch adhesion..
To all on the list, Astigmatisim can be caused by many factors, on thin mirrors..
Support, temperature, and testing mechanic's... I think that Mike Lockwood made many profound and reveiling statement's. More information is necessary. As some ATM's know, a thin piece of glass on edge will let it's "shoulders down" , this cause's Astig....More care needs to be concerned with supporting your mirror for testing.. You would not mount your mirror in that piece of wood you are testing it on, so why think it will give you a decent result in a test!!!!
Just a tip for testing thinner mirror's, lean the mirror back to a degree that it will be used in most cases. This may sound ridiculus, but a 30 degree angle for testing is not bad. The mirror can be at ground level, and your eye can be at a stand up point of view...Think about it....
And now for pitch adhesion....Richard's Special Sauce still ring's true for this purpose..
Call up the Demon of this concoction, I cannot becon the "Beast" for such a trivial pursuit..
