I have just purchased three seven inch blanks from Newport glass. One arrived, the other two are due in by Friday.

I am going to make flats.

The glass looks really nice. I am contemplating working both sides of each blank to make two sided flats. 

Why?

Because I have the time and desire to do so and because I want to do it. If they come out well, I may splurge and send one or more to the U.S. Bureau of Standards for certification. 

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which grit I should use first? 

I am leaning toward 320, then 500, 15Micron, nine, five and three.
