Re: [ATM] Spherometer

Francis...

Be aware that the seller is using my Spherometer program, without my permission, for personal gain. I released the program for use by ATM's for their personal use and not for personal gain several years ago. I have conversed with the seller (who admits the program is my creation) and with eBay about his mis-use of my "Intellectual Property". Of course, since eBay is making a percentage of his sales, they were not inclined to support my claims. He continues to use my Spreadsheet without giving credit to me as the creator of the spreadsheet (which is all that I asked).

You are welcome to use the spreadsheet as released to the ATM community. The program itself is located in the files section of Yahoo's ATM_FREE GROUP in case your spherometer is not representative of the printout you received. You should not have any issues with the accuracy of the program, I cannot speak to the accuracies of his construction but I could go on and on about his integrity.

I just picked up a neat digital spherometer from a source who listed one on
ebay. The purveyor is Hans Weist. His website is www.1800destiny.com

The spherometer comes with a conversion chart to convert readings into
focal lengths. I have yet to take a sample and compare the math, but I am
very happy with the product otherwise.

In other news, I have completed 5 micron grinding on my 12.5 project that I
am working on now. The basement is warming and polishing my projects cannot
be far behind. I am also gathering various writings on foundry work as well
as the parts and tools that I will need. I suspect that a home foundry,
complete with furnace, flask, tongs, sand and all other needed items may be
had for around $500.00
