The distortion is typically drawn by a vacuum rather than a 'pea under the
mattress'.  It is very common in commercial work.  Occasionally an amateur
gives it a whirl.

The thought to consider is the issue of 'polishing as per sphere': easy,
hard???  For larger amateur sizes, it is not a trivial matter.
