Ah, I have got impression that treatment was proposed primarily for
flattening mirror's back , to ensure good mirror support and
avoid printtrough during the front surface figuring. Anything that will
counteract this goal is to be avoided, I thought.
If hasty power polishing is just to save time in such delicate procedure
like reference flat making, I am suspicious about its merit and
consequences.
In my case though, just pure theorizing.
