The .008mm (about .003") sounds a lot more like what typical max.
wedge is for a design.
I played with a Newt. and put a .1deg. wedge in front of it.
Most of the error was coma (the light gets shifted off-axis) and
rotating the telescope to eliminate the coma got me a nice line
of spots.  Unfortunately, the program doesn't produce numbers but
you could see that the color error was of some significant
amount.
