That sounds like a lot of work for measuring.  I'm using the
basic plans that Newport put out.  Three points to hold the glass
with one of them havng the measuring tool over it and two pins to
locate the  glass in place diameter wise.  You have to p[ck up
the glass and rotate it as needed for the different measurement
points and push it against the two pins but that happens very
quickly.
I added in the ability to measure different sized pieces of glass
by the ability to move the two outrigger support points and the
two pins but that is something additional to the basic device.
