This is very much off the top of my head, because the very little
silvering experience I have was long ago. I wonder if lower solution
temperature would be helpful. The idea of a good thick shiny coat is to
have the silver deposit slowly as a colloid rather than rapidly as
crystals (bloom). Lower temperature should make the reactions go
slower, so that, hopefully, the silver will tend to deposit out before
it grows crystals. Less concentrated dextrose might accomplish the same
end.
