[ATM] Secondary mirror base

Hi,

I am building a secondary mirror support for a 3 inch diagonal mirror.  I want to silicon the mirror to a wooden base. Normally, I use a piece of hardwood but locally no one has anything thick enough.  I have some 12mm thick hardwood.  Could I glue several thicknesses together and use that?  Alternatively I have some softwood ply I could glue together. Would either of these options be stable enough?
