I've found that the bumps in the caps to be of no significance as
they do quickly wear down.  The early grinding with the cap is
also when the hole is just being started and thus the "quality"
of the shape of the hole is least important.  Most of those bumps
are the zinc coating anyway which is softer than the iron.
The tin can tool, although I haven't used one yet, is also quite
decent for a single mirror.
