[ATM] ATM: "Luna Moth" now "Phoenix"
Ken,
Thank you for your input. In honor of my friend, you, I have renamed that
project "The Phoenix", as per your suggestion; because, indeed, it is a sort
of ressurection. I will credit you (in the ms.) with helping me name my fine
masterpiece, that final accomplishment of my nearly thirty year hobby of
atm-ing, the hobby that helped me devise the many innovations that I
distilled into that mounting. Also, already three (if not four) very
accomplished, talented atms are resurrecting my formerly patented (U.S.
Patent #4,901,072) flanged, direct contact all thread rod sector drive; it
seems something I did a very long time ago has also become a "Phoenix". So
already I have something else to leave behind that is finally coming to be
utilized (patent expired long, long ago).
A piano might drop out of the 8th or 9th story of one of our tall buildings
downtown onto me today or tomorrow; one never knows.
I now believe that it was meant for me to do it this way; perhaps this was
all meant to be- then, in more ways than one, I owe you for the inspiration
I received, from my subconscious. I prefer to think it came from a higher
intelligence than my subconscious; my subconscious was only the receiver for
the idea(s).
So you are now part of the production of this thing, having named it!!!!!
BTW, when I finish it as a word document, to be available on disc, there
will be two CDs; one of them will contain the illustrated word doc., the
other one, wonderful, beautiful CAD animated renderings of the motions of
the completed mounting.
I will try to stay above ground long enough to resurrect the "The Phoenix".
How apt your name is. I am so releived that I did not build it for nothing
after all; my folder is filling up. In fact, I think most will find it
useful more as simply a guide, to more or less guide them, in terms of
features, methods of construction, and the mechanical details, rather than
only slavishly following what I built. It does not matter; doing the project
has re-animated my enthusiasm for life; I think it will help prolong my
years. It is a curious thing how we do not comprehend the future, until we
see it fulfilled as the present, do you no think so, too?
A well known memember of this list is encouraging his wonderfully talented
son to help me with all the CAD renderings, modellings, animations. He also
recovered the dimensions for "The Phoenix" from my "Rosetta Stone" using his
wonderful talents, his fine intellect, referencing that Rosetta Stone that
so long has lain fallow in my attic. He will be very well compensated by me
for this, in the long run.
My "Rosetta Stone", again:

Thank you, Ken.
And please, you guys and gals, send me your name to put in this request for
subscription folder, "Phoenix"-
