Well they have to give a reason why it's not needed or can't be
used on another project. Often it's because this stuff is big, the
project they were bought is over and they what the storage space back.

Well I'm guessing all the pictures are of the same blank. The other
3 blanks could be in new condition but you never know.

Well these we're more likely coming from Sandia National Labs.
They were (maybe still) doing work with high power lasers. So
these might have come from one of the old "Star Wars" programs.
If I would have seen the listing sooner I might have taken the
time to run down a look at them first hand.
A friend of mine got a 12", 50th wave mirror (yes it really was
50th wave, I saw the paperwork from the company that made it) from a
salvage auction with a minor chip on the edge. Best mirror I've ever
seen. I've run it up to 900x and seen things clear then other 12"-16+"
scopes would see at 100x. What's not serviceable for them could be dream
come true for one of us. :^)
Oh well, I guess it's just glass under the bridge now....
