[ATM] Followup on Chabot TMW (OT)

Greetings again,

As a followup to my email the other day regarding the Chabot Space and Science Center 
and its relationship with the Telescope Makers' Workshop; I do have some good news to 
report and a couple of serious Mea Culpa's to make.

The gist of my last email was that the TMW's future was uncertain due to a lack of 
support from the Chabot Space and Science Center.  My presentation of the situation was 
harsh and unfair to the many individuals within Chabot who have offered their long time 
and ongoing support for the TMW.  I sincerely apologize to each and every one of them, 
particularly those board members, staff members and volunteers who have followed and 
appreciated our efforts over the years.

The Science Center's Director, Dr. Alexandra Barnett, has expressed her unambiguous 
support for the Telescope Makers' Workshop, and has stated that the TMW has and will 
remain an integral part of Chabot's future. That statement was not one that was made 
lightly.  I have no doubt that Dr. Barnett has always considered this to be the case. 
Running Chabot is no cakewalk. The financial and political issues are complex and Dr. 
Barnett has many competing priorities to contend with.  The fact that she took the time 
to clearly explain Chabot's position on this matter is greatly appreciated. Her 
sincerity on this was beyond question.

I regret that we had to engage in some dysfunction to gain an understanding of Chabot's 
official position. It was premature to take the route of engaging public pressure and I 
apologize to anyone who was taken by surprise.  To those of you who still wish to offer 
letters of support, please feel free to email me with those notes, as they are always 
helpful. Cooler heads have prevailed and we're hopefully in a position to constructively 
discuss TMW's future without the need of outside influence.

For those of you who have already offered your support, thank you again for your kind 
words and efforts.
