Re: [ATM] Clutch material

Re: auto-parts cork:
Watch out for the gasket-material cork at the Auto stores. It often has
shredded rubber impregnated in it. It may be too sticky as a clutch.
I use a sheet of the stuff as a keyboard placemat (the rubber
impregnated type, that is), keeps it from sliding around.

Re: wine corks:
If the bottle is stored on its side, the cork stays wetted and doesn't
dry-rot and maintains the seal for ages. That's the main reasons why
wines are always kept on their sides (and to accumulate precipitates
also, I think, but that's another topic)

I don't know what they do about Champagne, which is ~not~ supposed to be
stored on its side, but be kept upright to let the precipitate collect
in the bottom where it won't get stirred up. But it has a different
type of cork too... so I dunno.

Re: other materials for a clutch:
What's the group's opinion on using Derilin? (is that spelled
right?)(derlin?)(deralin?)<whatever>
I've heard of it being used in high-end mounts.
(well, one company's, that I know of for sure)

Anyway, that's my 2 cents of idle thought.
James.
