Re: [ATM] Manufacture lens
There is also the Newport Glass Works website. Wedge is
basically measured by measuing the thickness of a point just
inside the edge of the glass disk.
This is easily done by supporting the disk at 3 points and
locating the disk on those 3 points with 2 more pins that bear
against the side of the disk and on either side of one of the 3
points. The thickness of the glass is measured at the support
pin between the two side locating pins with some measuring tool.
Often used is a dial indicator. The absolute thickness isn't
important but rather the relaitive tjhickness of several points
around the disk.
You will also need a thickness measuring tool which is a support
point in the middle of the disk with several points which can be
adjusted tp hold the disk level with a measuring tool over the
center support point. The measuring tool is zeroed on the
support point and then the disk put between.
A spherometer is also a good tool to have, especially for
measuring convex surfaces. There are several designs of these.
