[ATM] Melting Pyrex..
Craig, and the list,
Your photos of melted Pyrex trying to meld with ceramic surfaces are a
nice science
project... It has taken others to attempt this cause to spend many dollars
to complete
your experiment. Has it been successful?? Ask Corning Glass Works, or any
other glass
producer. The answer is in your experiments.. Try small first and them get
larger after
success. I don't think that this is the way to go. Using two differnet
materials is always a
no, no,... If these two materials can be combined molecularly(sp) the
problem becomes
a new material. One layer of Pyrex and one layer of ceramic material , (even
if you could
somehow bond them in a kiln) would bend and heave to no end because of their
different
thermal attitudes... Russ Jocoy... Let me know I have some chunks of
Pyrex for your
kiln to melt...
