The normal way. Which means that my rocker is taller to give room for the AZ encoder under the scope. The AZ encoder fits into a hole in a regular AZ bolt. I hate those encoders that press-fit, often they slip, and I hate those tiny Allen-head set-screws. So I have a relatively large and long machine bolt, and I filed the end of it flat so it sets better.
Long after I built it I found out that I could have used an encoder strip and a strip reader, mounted for example inside the ground ring, to lower the scope farther. I'll most likely do it that way next time.
