Composite mirrors offer the promise for the Holy Grail of mirror making.that
of mirror replication without the need for figuring. In addition more
complex shaped and lightweight mirror geometry is possible with composites.
This could lead to a simpler and more inexpensive mounting designs. E.g. a
conical shaped primary mirror with a central support, and thus eliminating a
complex mirror support cell altogether. Composite mirror replication could
herald cries of Run Away! Run Away! . from glass and glass pushing. But
there will always be those brave and gallant TNs  , like Sir Richard the
Black, who might feel disarmed by composite replication and continue to push
glass and proclaim, "Oh. Oh, I see. Running away, eh? You yellow bastards!
Come back here and take what's coming to you. I'll bite your legs off"
