[ATM] re: the challenge

I think the challenge has already been met by fellow listers Jean Guy and
Rick with their unique fused assembly. The only thing remaining is an
infinite analysis of post positions which can be accomplished with the free
version of Robot that allows the analysis of up to 3000 points to arrive at
the best solution of post and plate sizes. 
As Mel pointed out the mirror is but a small part of the telescope and
represents about 10 percent of the cost of a simple Newtonian. I think it
would be an understatement to assume that a serious working telescope mount
exclusive of the Dobsonian style would cost about $1000 per inch of aperture
- - - - after finishing my first 8 inch F 5 it was the most frustrating part
of the venture.
