[ATM] Reference material, Newbie's, and How much we know...

    To all on the list,  I have had the pleasure to meet Mr. Stuart 
Hutchins, and in the same
year meet the Mr. Richard Swartz. ... Both individuals are very down to 
earth (well Richard is
kinda out there a bit,, "me two").. But getting back to the reference 
material... I have the "new"
book by Jean-LeClaire and his cohart.. This book is fantastic and fills gaps 
in Texarus"s (sp) already
extensive documentation.,   This book is written by a frenchman and his wife 
(or misstress)
and with the diagrams and photos bring the ancient "Tex" book back onto the 
shelf of History..
   I would suggest that all on the list at least look at this book.. There 
are some new twists
for old dogs.., Although they were all described on this list at on time or 
another.
      I will agree that I have had more information about creating a 
telescope from written text
than from the internet... Don't get me wrong,.. I have had many revalations 
on a computer screen.
  The basic information in a book can be studied, re-read, studied again 
when uncertain.. and read
again in five years when you loose interest..
   Stuart my friend,.. You are a calm and collected guy and I think you are 
the best chose  to lead
your mirror grinding crew, Hell let them make the mistakes and try and fix 
them. When you do your
own,.. you can see the problems comming around the corner.,  but you are the 
kinda guy that will
see the problem and fix it before it becomes to "deep"(no pun).. You are the 
best leader of your
cause, .People will make mistakes... whether making a telescope mirror or 
cooking microwave
popcorn..
         Richard S. , Glad to hear your echo again on this list. You need to 
go visit Stuart in Denver
and colaberate (bug) , with him on reference material, ( make deals for full 
sheets of Pyrex).
and find out how to educate the.. (you want how much?) ..new people 
interested in the
making of ..( I don't think that will fit in my truck..)... Telesopes... 
(how much does that wiegh?.)..
We are all, (well most), of good intent on this list and we joke and repeat 
information all the
time without saying that this has all been said before.., just because.. we 
love to hear the problems
that we all have gone through.. Some of us have answers,.. some of us have 
advise,.. but the
most response comes from the questions we all know the answer to...  Just to 
save a rookie a
little time to open his window to the stars... You know it's all about the 
stars.....If the sky was pitch
black at night with no lanterns,, this list would not exist.....  Russ Jocoy
