That's way too generous. I've just made lots of mistakes figuring
mirrors and learned from them. I've also had a very good mentor.
I always enjoy your posts Russ, especially the recent one about
cutting diagonals - certainly not rookie theory.

I have always felt that the list needed some more "core material" that
can answer lots of the common questions that first-time mirror makers
have concerning spherizing and figuring. We're wasting bandwidth
answering the same questions over and over again. So, I'm trying
answer some of the figuring questions, and those related to pressing
and pitch hardness. I hope my material is helpful and worthy of being
referred to.
The materials on the ATM FAQ page are excellent, but there are many,
many more resources that could be linked to from that location. Is
there an easy way to include some of these links on the ATM site
itself? Seems like that's the right place for them.

That's a good way to live.

I got the introduction, fine grinding, polishing, lap making and lap
pressing sessions drafted last night. Hopefully I can knock out most
of the real content - the figuring guidelines - over the weekend.
On another note, the east- and west-coasters have mirror-making
workshops every year, but we in the midwest have nothing (that I know
of). I don't have time to organize one myself, but if one did occur
I'd love to attend and help out.
