It might work as you have it pictured. My thought was to have the two
pieces of glass in contact, so that the glycerin layer was thin.
There are good writeups on several convex mirror tests in The Best of
the ATM Journal, in volume 2 I believe. (Richard suggested vol 1.,
but he might be right). Here's a link to the table of contents, on

I think it's section 14.8. I'll have to check the book at home to
make sure I'm right.
