RE: [ATM] Crayford Focuser Pinion

I made one out of PVC, and it was very easy even though it looks rather
amateurish. I also used the wrapped elastic band method, and it did make the
motion spongey.

So, I wouldn't recommend it if you're a perfectionist, but it was fine for
me - my main requirements were price and ease of manufacture.

Hello all.

I'm starting to make a simple crayford focuser
but am needing some help.

Should I make the drawtube PCV or Aluminium,
or any other ideas?

My pinion for moving the drawtube up and down will
be a 6mm (OD) aluminium tube but I need to coat it
in something to give it some friction against the drawtube.
I've thought about wrapping a rubber band around it but was
worried that it might make the motion feel 'spongey'
Does anyone have any better suggestions.

Do you get 'paint on rubber?

Any help much appreciated.
