I've not been bothered by the amount of CeO in the mixture although I do
tend to go with thicker mixes.
You want enough CeO on the lap so that the mirror shows a good coloring of
the stuff when you pull the mirror off of the lap.  I will note also that it
is also common to have too much CeO on the lap which will lead to the mirror
just rolling over the lap on top of the CeO that isn't partially buried into
the pitch so don't apply too much.
