[ATM] Cerium Oxide Problem

A question on Cerium Oxide preparation for polishing. I have been
polishing a 6" f7.5 for 5+ hours and am using Cerex 1670 mixed 1tsp in 4oz
of water with 2 drops of dish detergent. The mirror looks good visually ,
there are no visible pits , but the laser beam from a pointer is quite
visible on the face of the mirror.

I did an experiment and shook up the mix, let it settle for 30 seconds and
carefully poured off all but the last 1/4 of the amount. I then used the
decanted mix to polish with. It did show improvementand started to get
better.

My question is: what is the proper technique to prepare the Cerex, how
long should it be left to settle, and is it normal to have to do this?

Thanks,

Kurt
