[ATM] Polycarbonate lenses

  To any optician out there,

   I know that this is a little off topic but as I understand it most
eyeglasses worn by us middle aged guys is made not of glass but polycarbon?
correct?
      My question is one of being thrifty. I have many eyeglasses and 
sunglasses
that are scratched on the face surface from normal wear and wiping on "T" 
shirts
(oh No) to remove film (God knows I would never do that with my eyepieces)
     Anyway can glass polishes such as CEO, Rough, or Aluminum oxide be used
to polish these "plastic" lenses????  There has to be some way to polish

       PS Do I give up and buy new glasses (secret polishing process $$$)
