Re: [ATM] Does glass retain moisture?
You have to seperate out the dynamic and the static parts to the whole
question. Take a piece of glass out of the car and put it in a scope and
the thing will take a while to stabilize to a certain cooling rate at which
time it assumes a particular shape different than fresh out of the car,
including heat waves over the surface of the mirror and up the tube. The
question isn't just mirror shape but also the heat transfer from the glass
to the outside air.
After the glass reaches approximate equilibrium with the outside air, both
inside and out, it has then achieved a different shape than while it was
cooling. This is often the point at which the reflecting surface has
finally achieved that perfectionist parabola as best it was put onto the
glass.
So you see that there are several stages in the cooling of the glass and the
lines are blurred often as to what is being talked about in each of the
cases. Sort of a case where half of the knowledge is worse than none at
all.
