[ATM] Spherometer

Can someone point me in the direction of some resources on making myself a
spherometer? I am interested in trying to make an achromat and reading about
it seems I need such an item. If I am to make one what should be the
diameter of the ring? Would there be any certain diameter limits? I am
seeing 25mm zeroing flats for sale so that seems small, but if it would work
I could make the ring to match the 25mm.
