Ian,
Kiln owners (and sellers) I have found have experience with artists
as you said, because they are only users of their kilns.
When I explained what I intend to do, it was new for them.
This is small country (4.7 millions) and ATM is not engaging many people.
They are slumping and fusing plate sheet glass 3 mm thick.
My glass blank of 30 cm dia and 19 mm thick will be new for them
and I guess they will be experimenting with it until proper slumping and
annealing regime will be established by trial and error method.
And this may be expensive game.
Therefore I thought that receiving information on proven and working
procedure, proven on ATM blanks, will be the shortest and cheapest way to
get some results.
Unfortunately I received no help from those who know it for sure.
It seems that you are right that :"mistakes will be a learning experience ."
I will keep you informed on my progress.
Regards
Vladimir.
PS
Thanks for URL about fusing and slumping.
