[ATM] ATM: Lost (but now found) articles-

To all:

While going through my "sent items" folder in my other email program, trying
to whittle it down (delete most of it; it had ballooned to well over 300
messages) I found a couple of relatively clear accounts, introductory in
nature, for using "area formatted" ring laps. As it happens, a while ago, I
started to write (in Word 2000) an illustrated article on this subject that
will be exhaustive and comprehensive. But I have so many irons in the fire
that I haven't been able to get back to it lately.

If any of you are interested in either or both of these articles (they are
short html emails) I will be happy to forward either or both to anyone who
wants them. Those will a 56K connection can expect a several minutes'
download for the one with the larger number of large, color image files in
it. The other one which is more general, and no color image files in it,
will download pretty quickly.

The "area formatted" ring lap works almost like magic to quickly cure zonal
defects. I have an example of a badly zoned up mirror, with three bad zones,
for which I drew a stencil for a compound, multiple ring lap, to cure all
three zones in one operation, it worked like magic. I have to make up a
small note with the image (focograph) of that mirror and the drawing of the
ring lap stencil I made for it, and perhaps can do that soon.

All of you fellows have chided me again and again (properly- I deserve these
chidings- at least you guys are very polite about it) about not getting any
of these little articles I write formatted as pages. Of course I have the
skills and knowledge to do that, but I have got to tell you, guys and gals-
I just cannot find the time; also my back pain and other domestic
difficulties are limiting my abilities to do everything I would like to do.
But let me say this: absolutely anyone who wants to format any of the
articles I have written as Word docs, or html emails, and put them on their
sites, absolutely have my permission to do so; naturally, please give me
credit as the author; but otherwise I write these for you guys and they come
with no strings attached.

I am just not hitting on all eight (five is about the best I expect, from
here on out) and even though I keep promising you guys that I will make
these up into pages, all of you know that I will never get around to it. Ask
and ye shall receive.

I call these area formatted ring laps "Zulu laps". It's a little riddle why
I call them this. Guess why, or ask, if you can't figure out. Anyway, I have
put these two little introductory articles where I can find them, in my new
folder in which I am keeping all my little write-ups on figuring, indexing,
Zulu figuring, etc. They are for you guys. That is why I wrote them. Ask and
ye shall receive.

Sure am glad to be back on the list. Makes me feel like they might delay
shooting me for a while.
