[ATM] GEM fork revival

Not being an expert on mounts,I still find my fork/polar mount quite
suitable.
It began when I took my Edmund GEM apart, and re-inserted the DEC shaft into
the polar housing. That did it.From then on I broke out the alum jig plate
and made the forks. When it was done,I had a pedestal base,(Edmund) and an
alum fork mount with barrel-bearing saddle. The 6" F/8newt sat nice an low
so short people could look at objects at the zenith without a step
stool.Low center of gravity. It took 5 minutes to take apart, and traveled in
2 pieces.Though I now have my dream scope,(8" F/5.6 Cave) I still want to
build another fork mount that will use some ideas I've learned since
1975.My fork mount 6" took second place mechanical at the first Florida
Stellefane at JD Park,Hobe Sound.
