He's got 2 diaphragms deflecting in parallel.  Radially, it's quite 
stiff.  This will move like a 3D parallelogram, and keep the mirror moving 
in parallel.  I've used this many times in other applications, and it works 
quite well.  No bearings needed, so it gives very smooth motion.
