Hi all! Found the web-site below that seems to have some useful stuff
about glass slumping.
http://www.warmglass.com/Basic_Process.htm
Can anyone out there who has done this tell me what temp they used to slump
plate glass (19mm) into a mould, and how long they soaked it at this temp??
From the notes on this webpage it looks like what i need to do is:
704 C : How long???
515 C : 1.5hrs (annealing)
515 - 453 C: over 3 hrs
453 - 385 C: over 50 mins
385 - 25 C: over 40 mins
Now the guy who uses the oven i have access to reckons that he would heat
it up to the required temp and let it cool for the rest of the day and over
night. No Computer controls on this one.
I'm thinking that the way to go is heat it to the "slumping temp" of 704C
and soak it till its well slumped, then open the door of the oven and cool
it a couple of hundred degrees.
Then set the oven to 515C and let it soak at this for at least 1.5 hrs, and
then turn it off and let it cool. Should be at room temp be the next morning.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Haven't read as far as moulds in the
info i have yet. Am trying to work out if the oven will do the job.
Seeyahs!
