[ATM] Hartmann mask

Recently anounced program Hartman2D by james Burrows

(2004-02-25, Win32, 1.21 M)

 and required .dll file

http://home.earthlink.net/~burrjaw/public/qt.zip
(2002-09-07, Win32, 1.75 M)

requires a mask with rectangular array of square holes.
Help file of the program explains one way of making mask.
I have used services of the Graphic Print Studio.
Mask was constructed in a vector graphic and e-mailed
to the Studio. They have computer controlled cuting machine
( sort of the xy plotter ), which cuts out the patern in
selfadhesive PVC foil o.1mm thick.
After separating it from the paper holding the foil
it is mounted on the mirror.
Because adhesive is strong and foil thin it is not easy to
mount the foil on the mirror without deforming the hole patern.
And peeling the foil from the mirror is practicaly impossible
and leads to the foil damage. Therefore such a mask is only
for one time use.

To avoid this, second mask was made on the computer
controlled laser cutter from a hopefully more suitable material.
Material for the mask was rubber sheet 1mm thick.
The rubber is soft and if mirror is laying on its back
the mask conforms by its own weight to the mirror curve
and double sided tape is not required.

It seems that laser cutting in combination with ruber
is not as precise as mechanical foil cutting.
I am still looking for different materials that will best
suit mask making by mentioned technologies.

Vladimir.
