I've always seen that those who hang their fingers over the edge of the
glass down to near the lap in an attempt to get control of the glass tended
very strongly to have TDE.  In addition, they are also those that do the
hands beside each other so it could also be that that particular style of
holding the mirror may be allowing the glass to more plow into the lap than
the hands in front of each other which tends to have the hand trailing the
motion to push the glass down and thus make oblate spheroids instead.
