Listen to this man....Aluminum mirrors are a pain to make and not any cheaper
either.  I've made several 7" x 10" and smaller Al flats for use in LIDAR
systems.

Polishing metal to an optical surface is no easy task weather it is bare
aluminum or overcoated with nickel.
