If this were so, the extra color encoding could be exploited by those doing
digital Foucault analysis.  The more different kinds of modulation there are
in an image, the more the information that can be extracted.

Even the humble human eye can sort out colors better than shades of grey.
Wouldn't it be nice if the null were a nice lurid ring of deep violet!  But
let's not count our chickens too soon....
